Tips for Making a Sale
For some people selling is hard, but it doesn’t have to be. The thing is that sales are not just about getting a stranger to buy from you, they are about getting a stranger to become your friend and look at your recommendations as beneficial tidbits that will help them solve a problem in their lives. The truth is that with quotas constantly rising and competition getting tougher you will have to step up your game if you want to become a better salesperson. Here are a few tips for sales process improvement .
The best thing you can do as a salesperson is not to focus on your own desires but rather to focus on what the other person needs. Become genuinely interested in the other person and if they have a problem see if there is something you can do to help them. It might not involve selling them your product at first unless their problem really could be best fixed by your product. You will have time to sell them product later.
Smile. People like to be around happy people. They are also more likely to take advice from someone who is happy to be around them.
Listen to them. Letting them talk will both make them feel good, and give you information about them that might be useful. If they aren’t very talkative ask them questions that will get them talking. This will also give you information that will allow you to talk in terms of what they are interested in.
If you are going to see them again, learn their name and be able to say it when you see them or when you call them on the phone. It will make them feel like you know them personally and like you have taken a genuine interest in them.
The key to all this is to do each of these things genuinely. Instead of just being another salesperson or someone fresh out of employee training you will differentiate yourself as someone who cares. This will make them want to buy from you.
